IMMEDIATE SUBSTITUTE FOR ACETONE

Flash point 30°C in a vacuum

Evaporation rate 4'30 at 20°C

Reduction of consumption 5

Acetone is extremely flammable. With a flash point of -0.4°F, it is a particularly dangerous solvent to use. Additionally, the vapours form explosive mixtures in the air.

With a vapour pressure of 27.4 kPa, acetone is highly volatile, comparable to ether, and must be reapplied several times for effective cleaning. Although its price seems economical, the quantities to be used are high, even when disregarding quantities lost through evaporation.

Acetone is also hazardous to health:

- Irritation of the skin and mucous membranes,

- Severe eye damage Cat.2,

- Depression of the nervous system in case of high exposure,

- Headaches, dizziness, inebriation, comas, in certain cases convulsions,

- Nausea, vomiting, haematemesis, metabolic acidosis,

- Narcotic effects Cat.3,

- Specific toxicity for certain target organs,

- Binding exposure value 500 ppm Art. 4412-149 of the Labour Code.

As a reminder, any storage, processing or use of an extremely flammable liquid must be declared to the insurance companies.

All the regulations applicable to the use of acetone are indicated on the www.substitutionacetone.com website.

Acetone is banned from sale in many countries. Acetone is used in the purification of cocaine. Catalysed with hydrochloric acid, it is easy and straightforward to make TATP, a powerful explosive used in terrorist acts.

NEUTRALENE® RG 30 dissolves immediately:

- Polyester resins

- Epoxy resins

- Gelcoat, including hybrids

NEUTRALENE® RG 30 is also an excellent substitute for the aromatic (Toluene-Xylene)/ketone (MIBK - MEK) mixtures used in the cleaning of solvent-based paints, but without the toxicological disadvantages.
