Stripping techniques, acidic chemicals, by pyrolysis burn, by dry pyrolysis (Dry Stripping), mechanical sanding, scraping, bead blasting, depend on the nature of the substrates (substrates), their size, their accessibility, and their possibilities to be eventually dismantled and transported to an external subcontractor.
Chemical stripping
Most components of fast-acting strippers on a wide variety of paints contain CMR (Carcinogenic Mutagenic or Reprotoxic products) such as Methylene Chloride, NMP or NEP.
Terminology
The term solvent, removing or dissolving agent is used to remove fresh varnish or paint. The cleaning then concerns the tools or equipment for removal.
In circulation systems, solvents are rinsing or purging solvents.
The term thinner is used to re-fluidize or to restore to viscosity a varnish or a solvent-based paint.
The term stripper is used to remove a polymerized, crosslinked, or vulcanized coating from a substrate.
The most common families of varnishes and paints, liquids or powders, are:
Natural siccative | Alkyds (glycerol) |
Cellulose | Polyesters |
Rubbers | Phenolic (résoles) |
Vinyl | Aminoplast |
Acrylic | Epoxy |
Polyurethanes | Polyureas |
The products developed by iBiotec can also be used for the removal of "intelligent" photocatalytic paints and varnishes, electro-magnetic insulators, photochromes, hydrophobics with Lotus effect, technical and special varnishes for glazing.
